Perth County – The Perth District Health Unit has released its 2016 Annual Report. The report highlights achievements and activities over the past fiscal year.
A feature article in the report details the 50th anniversary celebrations that the Health Unit organized throughout the year. These celebrations enabled staff, stakeholders and the general public to review some of public health’s achievements over the past 50 years.
Other highlights of Health Unit activities in 2016 outlined in the report include:
- A free sunscreen pilot project in Stratford received an award from the Canadian Dermatology Association.
- Immunization records were reviewed for 12,731 students to ensure they were up-to-date.
- The oral health team successfully launched the new and revised Healthy Smiles Ontario program.
- Residents were reminded that “Size Matters” in a campaign promoting the Low Risk Drinking Guidelines
- An Extreme Heat Warning System was launched to help reduce heat-related illnesses.
- The Healthy Babies Healthy Children team saw 116 families in their blended home visiting program.
